Introduction
Autopilot
is a system of automatic controls which holds the aircraft on any selected magnetic
headin. In
this project our goal is to control the roll angle of the aircraft in the autopilot
system.
Main
flight Control System ØAircraft is controlled by three main surfaces: 1)AILERON 2)RUDDER 3)ELEVAT
PURPOSE TO
ENABLE THE PILOT TO EXERCISE CONTROL OVER THE AIRCRAFT DURING ALLL PORTIONS OF
FLIGHT.
AILERON ØThe ailerons are one of three primary
flight control surfaces found on aircraft.. ØAileronsare small hinged
sections on the outboard portion of a wing. ØThey are movable surfaces that control
movement about the longitudinal axis--called roll ØAilerons
can be used to generate a rolling motionfor an aircraft

RUDDER
ØOn the
trailing edge of the vertical stabilizer is the Rudder.
ØThis controls the yawor the
left/right sliding movements of the aircraft.
ØOn a real aircraft, this is controlled by
the foot pedals
ØWhen the
pilot pushes the left pedal, the rudder deflects left. Pushing the right pedal
causes the rudder to deflect right.

Rudder
Elevators
ØThe elevator is on the tail of the
aircraft, moving the elevator causes the nose of the aircraft to go up or down,
allowing the aircraft to climb or descent..
ØElevators control the up/down motion of
aircraft that is called as pitch..
ØWhen the
pilot pulls the stick backward, the elevators go up. Pushing the stick forward
causes the elevators to go down.

ROLL ANGLE
ØThe ailerons are
used to bank the aircraft; to cause one wing tip to move up and the other wing tip
to move down..
ØBoth the Ailerons
always move in opposite to each other..
ØLowering the aileron
on one wing raises the aileron on the other..
ØThe wing with the lowered aileron rises because of its increasel ift ,and
the wing with the raised aileron moves downward because of its decreased lift.
ØAngle which is generated by the movement of Ailerons
is called as RollAngle .
ØRoll
is defined as a rotation abou t the x-axis,orlongitudinal axis,of a flying vehicle.
Gyro
ØThe
GYROS (TO SENSE
WHAT AIRPLANE IS DOING)
ØDirectional
Gyro (Heading Indicator) is used in an aircraft to inform the pilot of his
heading.
ØThe
Gyro works us in gagyro- scope, tied to the
aircraft horizontal..
AirCraft
Dynamics
ØFlight
dynamics is the science of air and space vehicle orientation and controlin three
dimensions..
ØAirCraft
Dynamics uses for determination of the position and velocity of aircraftat some
arbitrary time..
Advantages
ØAutopilot
system reduce the work strain of pilot..
ØAutopilot
roll controlling reduces the fatigue of controlling the aircraft in flight by the
pilot.

Applications
•It is used in the auto missiles to control the roll
angle..
•It can
be used in almost every aircraft for auto pilot controlling..
